Instructions:Brown chops in oil in 2 1/2 quart glass ceramic casserole at least 10 inches across, on top of stove over moderately high heat 2 minutes on each side.
(Can you do that??? -Valerie's question) Rearrange chops in casserole with thickest parts toward outside.
If chops released more than 1 T drippings during browning, drain off excess.
Add water, rosemary and pepper.
Cover with casserole lid or vented plastic food wrap and microwave on medium for 12 to 15 minutes or until fork-tender (see note), turning chops over and rearranging at half time.
To test, cut chop near bone - meat should not be pink.
If still pink, continue microwaving in 3-minutes increments.
Sprinkle with salt and let stand, covered, 3 minutes.
Braised Pork Chops with Orange and Ginger: Prepare as directed, substituting for the water and rosemary, 1/4 cup orange juice blended with 2 T Dijon-style mustard, 1 T minced fresh ginger and 1 T brown sugar.
Power levels: high (100 percent), medium-high (70 percent), medium (50 percent), medium-low (30 percent) and low (10 percent).
Note: In ovens of less than 600 watts, increase cooking times about 15 percent.
